Your data & privacy
Where your projects and account data live, what your browser keeps, and how to delete your account.
Your projects and account data live in your SolarLayout account in the cloud. There's nothing to manage on your own machine — sign in from any browser and the same data is there.
What lives in your account
On SolarLayout's servers, tied to your account:
- Your identity — email, name, and password (or the Google sign-in you connected).
- Your projects — each project's boundary KMZ, plant parameters, and every layout you've generated, with its results and exports.
- Your hardware uploads — the
.PANand.ONDfiles you've added. - Your plan & billing — your workspace's current plan, whether it's billed monthly or annually, and any remaining Pro Plus Trial calculations on a new account.
- Your billing history — payment records and invoices.
- Your support tickets.
This is why your work follows you to any browser: it was never tied to a single machine to begin with.
What your browser keeps
Signing in is handled by your browser, the same way as any other website — a session that keeps you signed in between visits. There's no SolarLayout credentials file to find or delete on your computer. Signing out, or clearing your browser's site data, ends the session; it changes nothing in your account.
Files you download — PDFs, KMZs, DXFs, CSVs — land in your browser's downloads folder and are yours to keep, move, or delete. SolarLayout doesn't track them once they leave the app.
Deleting your account
To fully delete your account:
- Export anything you want to keep first. Once the account is deleted, it can't be restored. Use PDF, KMZ, DXF, or CSV to preserve your layouts.
- Open a support ticket from the address on your account to request deletion — go to Dashboard → Support in the app, or email hello@solarlayout.app from your account address. We handle deletion under the data-protection rules that apply to you — India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 (DPDP Act) gives you a Right to Erasure, the EU GDPR grants equivalent rights for European users, and similar rights apply elsewhere. For data grievances, our Grievance Officer can be reached at the same address.
Deletion removes your identity, projects, layouts, exports, uploads, and plan and billing details from our servers. Some data may be retained where the law requires — for example, invoices for tax purposes — and, per our privacy policy, personal data may be held for up to two years after account closure or inactivity before it is securely deleted. Files you've already downloaded stay on your computer — delete those yourself if you want them gone.
